Privacy Policy

Last Updated: [Current Date]

Welcome to Pivit. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our desktop application, website, and associated services (collectively, the "Services"). By using Pivit, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account and Profile Information

When you register for an account (Basic or Pro), we collect authentication information (such as your email address and name) via our authentication provider, Clerk.

1.2 System and Device Data

To optimize performance and troubleshoot issues, we collect coarse, non-identifying system information. This includes:

  • Operating system and version
  • Hardware specifications (CPU core count buckets, total memory buckets)
  • Display configuration (display count and resolution buckets)

1.3 Analytics and Telemetry

We use PostHog to collect anonymous analytics regarding how you interact with the app.

  • Install ID: We generate a randomized, anonymous UUID for your installation.
  • Diagnostics Modes: You have control over what telemetry is sent to us. You can choose between "Minimal" and "Full" diagnostics modes in your settings. "Full" mode may include deeper performance metrics, event loop lag data, and memory usage samples to help us improve the app.
  • Sanitization: All logs and error reports are explicitly sanitized on your local machine before being sent to our servers to prevent the transmission of Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

1.4 AI Prompts and Content

When you interact with the Pivit Wheel or Command Bar, your text prompts, selected context, and file data (if provided) are processed to generate AI responses.

1.5 Cloud-Synced Data

We use Convex to securely store and sync your user preferences, application settings, and AI chat threads across your devices.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • To Provide and Maintain the Services: Facilitating your AI interactions, syncing your settings, and managing your subscription tier.
  • To Improve Performance: Analyzing system data and telemetry to optimize our low-latency overlay and fix bugs.
  • To Monitor Usage: Tracking AI consumption to enforce tier limits and prevent abuse.

3. Third-Party Service Providers

Pivit acts as a bridge between you and various advanced AI models. To provide our Services, we share necessary data with trusted third parties:

  • LLM Providers: Your prompts and necessary context are sent to the AI provider you select (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, DeepSeek, Meta, xAI, Alibaba, Xiaomi, etc.). Please note: Data processed by these third-party LLMs is subject to their respective privacy policies. We do not control how they process or store your prompts.
  • Infrastructure Providers: We use Clerk for user authentication, Convex for cloud database and serverless backend, and Vercel for web hosting.
  • Analytics Providers: We use PostHog for product analytics and bug tracking.

4. Local System Permissions

To function as a deeply integrated desktop overlay, Pivit may request local system permissions, such as access to your clipboard (e.g., for the Clipboard Companion plugin) or active window details. This local data is only used temporarily to provide context to your chosen AI model when explicitly triggered by you. It is not secretly recorded or arbitrarily uploaded to our servers.

5. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. Furthermore, our built-in redaction tools ensure that crash reports and diagnostic logs are heavily sanitized to remove sensitive local file paths or private text before reaching our analytics dashboards.

6. Your Rights and Choices

  • Diagnostics Mode: You can toggle your data sharing preferences between "Minimal" and "Full" within the application settings.
  • Account Deletion: You may request the deletion of your account and synced cloud data at any time by contacting us.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes via the application or website.
